Because every puzzle is built around a real nine-letter English word, finishing a grid does more than test your logic — it often introduces you to a word you might not use every day. When you complete a puzzle, we show you the word along with its dictionary definition, so each solve can be a small vocabulary lesson too.
The underlying logic is identical to Sudoku: every row, column, and 3×3 box must contain each of the nine symbols exactly once, and there is always a single valid solution reachable through pure deduction. The difference is the symbols themselves. Traditional Sudoku uses the digits 1–9; Wordoku uses the nine distinct letters of a hidden word.
Swapping numbers for letters changes the experience more than you might expect. Numbers are neutral and easy to scan, so many solvers fall into fast pattern-matching. Letters carry meaning, which can make the grid feel less familiar at first and encourages you to slow down and reason carefully — a big part of why Wordoku appeals to crossword and word-game fans as well as Sudoku regulars.
